April 2017

This meeting's agenda was definitely a multi-pager and getting through its items within two hours was no mean feat. Those in attendance got to enjoy a plentiful Show & Share, a great presentation on paper piecing (and June's Block Lotto), door prizes, and some sweet treats.

First up, Dia and Adrienne took us through preliminary survey findings, announcements and motions, upcoming workshops and get togethers. If you’d like to go granular, check out the meeting minutes here.

Show & Share

Wendy’s original pattern In the Gray Zone quilt was a mind-bending optical illusion on a grand scale.

Her original Nocturnal Behaviour photo quilt was an homage to her husband’s evening chocolate milk fix.

Peter’s one busy quilter. His Cat Love quilt was a challenging exercise in needle-turn appliqué using fusible web.

In his 10 Hours quilt top, Peter got to use up the many scraps from his many projects. Both patterns are by Elizabeth Hartman.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Shirley shared Iconic Words, an original pattern featured a dozen Canadian words and terms. It will be waving proudly at this year’s Quilts at the Creek’s Red & White Quilt Challenge.

Jeannie’s winning QuiltCon 2017 entry Fireworks finally come home and was shown in all its glory.

Anna’s Perwinkle Path (pattern by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company‎) was made from time-saving layer cakes. Yum!

Judy’s two shares were an exercise in interpreting magazine ads into a modern mini-quilt. Laundry Time was based on a Tide ad and Lady in Red was based on a Towne Shoes ad. Can you spot the difference?

Ten years in the making, Berene’s ADHD quilt, was a group effort that finally came to a close. It sure was colourful. As we used to say in the ad biz, you’ve come a long way, baby!

Love the chevron quilting on Berene's Big Love heart-inspired baby quilt.

Gunnel shared a few Manitoulin Island-inspired photo quilts using her gorgeous dyed fabrics.

Tanuja had a case of the giggles over the t-shirt memory quilt she made for her sister’s 50th.

Guild photog Elisa shared her sawtooth star block quilt, Scraps & Scraps, a great use of those pesky remnants that keep piling up.

Don’t forget: starting in June, we'll be meeting on the FIRST Sunday of the month, returning to The Workroom at its new, spacious location (1267Queen St. W.See you on the 4th!
