September 2017 meeting recap

On an unseasonably hot autumn afternoon, the Toronto MQG came back from an unseasonably meh summer break and met up at its new meeting location at Trinity-St.Paul's in the Annex. The Dance Studio provided a sunny, bright space and it took no time for us to settle in, meet new members, and play catch up.

2017 UFO Challenge

With its deadline looming, participating members have been busy turning those WIPs into fabulous UFOs!

First up was Debi's Little Bird quilt, based on the Ceiling Tiles pattern by Amy Garro. Worked on during a trying time, sewing up the paper-pieced blocks those blocks were the perfect escape.

Although the room felt like a sauna, Janet's jingly Christmas banner was a welcoming breeze!

Sandra checked off THREE stunners from her UFO list:
Quillow, Quartered 9-Patch, and A Mod Attempt

Christine's Sunny Sampler

Disco Laminate by Becky

Karen Palmer's Wedge Whoopsie quilt

Laura had THREE adorable UFOs to share: + Quilt, Meadow, and Kittens

Karen Brown's two finishes were OFF THE HOOK!: Aviatrix and Farmer’s Wife quilt

Lisa's verdant and sunny lap quilt

Steff was glad to have this Mod Art for Jen baby quilt completed. One down, 15 to go!

Dia's Summer Leaf was 99 44/100% completed. It got posted to her auntie the next day!

Show & Share

Our members have been quite busy this summer and we sure enjoy all their makes.

Peter's trio of quilts were gorgeous to behold!
Step It Up
Pineapple Surprise
Modern Triangles
Steff's baby quilt making machine is going strong. This one's for Roxanne.

Judy's small but oh-so-detailed quilt.

Made for Canada 150, Sandra's wall hanging, Unsettled, depicts unceded territory. Powerful.

With the state of the world these days, Berene's PEACE blocks bring much needed reflection. She's still working on which pattern will make the cut (I love both!) so in the meantime, check out her Tattoo series.

After assisting in holding up everyone else's quilt, Diane got to show her beauty.

Gwen's on a star-making kick! Here are quilts nos. 1 & 2.

Becky might not look convinced about her Kettle of Fish quilt but it was lovely to behold.

Paper Plane Block Lotto winner Dia had an instant baby quilt to gift.

Phew! what a meeting. Super hot on all counts. A special shout-out to Elena for treating us to some much needed refreshing Popsicles® and for saving my bacon with her iPhone!
